65 years ago, when Eugenie and Joseph Nittel founded the company, it offered only a single product: Plastic round-bottom bags for steel barrels. Today, this product is more relevant than ever. Throughout the world, our inliners are mostly used in the industrial sector. Our success is founded on the trust of our customers and the support of our suppliers. Our company would not have enjoyed this development without this cooperation.
Since February 2019, we have been part of the INDUSTRIAL PACKAGING LINER business segment. Together with sister companies Rhein-Plast, Tesseraux, the Liner Factory and US-based Protective Lining, these companies offer packaging solutions from a single source when it comes to the specialty field of liners and interior linings for industrial purposes.
All companies are subsidiaries of RINGMETALL SE, a German ‘hidden champion’ in the field of special packaging.
NITTEL GmbH was founded in 1957. On the approx. 1.8 ha site in Halle an der Saale, there are currently approx. 100 employees working in an administration wing and 2 plants. We now produce more than 4,000 different inliners. In total, we produce about 12 million inliners per year. 66% of these are used in the food and pharmaceutical industries, the rest mainly in the chemical sector.
The city of Halle an der Saale with its approx. 250,000 inhabitants is situated almost 170 km to the southwest of Berlin, via the highway. During the Second World War, it remained largely unscathed and is thus considered unique in Germany in terms of its architectural condition.
Together with the metropolis of Leipzig, situated just 25 minutes away by S-Bahn, the city forms the metropolitan area of Leipzig-Halle, which is home to more than one million people, and together with Leipzig and five other cities in Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia forms the Central German Metropolitan Region. Halle is one of the three regional centres of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, as well as being a major transport hub and an important scientific and economic centre in the eastern German states, with one of the oldest universities in Germany. The city is located in the so-called Middle German Chemical Triangle between Schkopau and Bitterfeld-Wolfen.
The manufacturing site itself is located only 600 m away from the local recreation area of the Dölauer Heide forest.
Besides Halle, Nittel operates three other sites abroad. These are:
